    INTRODUCTION:

     

     

    Xiaomi has launched the best top of the range smartphone with the 10th series. The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G is the gorgeous looking smartphone with better features along with 5G connectivity.

     

    The amazing 6.67-inch, IPS LCD paired with120Hz refresh rate with HDR10 panel are definitely going to impress you at first. The curved glass on the front and back looks really classy. The smartphone is large in size with the slim display bezels and heavy at 214.5g. Though it is a large phone but quite handy and easy to handle with one hand. The phone already packs a thin screen protector pre-applied. The box consists of a back cover (not transparent), a 33W fast charger and USB Type-C cable.

     

    So overall the first impression is good and I think this is going to be toughest competitor for others and I think after reading the review you would agree too. 

     

     

    DESIGN:

    The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G is covered with Gorilla Glass 5 on both the sides. Then display of the device is one of the great features and 120Hz refresh rate is the key point of the display. The 6.67-inch smartphone comes with 1080x2400px and a support of HDR10 standard. The phone’s Biometric authentication is handled by an excellent side-mounted fingerprint sensor which unlocks the phone in the blink of an eye. The smartphone comes with stereo speakers. The volume rocker is positioned at the right-hand side along with the fingerprint sensor. The IR blazer is placed on the top bezel. The phone has a microSD slot which acts as a shared SIM slot. The dual SIM tray is placed at the left side. The front side is equipped with a 16MP selfie camera seated in a tiny punch hole cut out at the top and the back side has quad camera setup. The phone has an official IP53 certification.

    The Xiaomi Mi 10 5G is available for three colours: Pacific Sunrise, Atlantic Blue, Midnight Black.

     

    Screen: 6.67-inch IPS LCD, 1080x2400 px resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 395ppi; 120Hz refresh rate; HDR10 support. 

     

    The 6.67-inch IPS LCD display of Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G has a 1080 x 2400 px resolution with FullHD+ and 395ppi. The panel also comes with a 120Hz refresh rate that gives you an amazing screen touching experience.

     

    Mi 10i features an Adaptive sync display which adjusts the panel’s refresh rate to improve the battery health. This feature adjusts the screen refresh rate automatically depending on the activity you do, for instance the when you play a movie the refresh rate falls to 48Hz or when you play a game the refresh rate jumps to 60Hz/ 90Hz. The display comes with a punch-hole notch aligned at the centre and also features a peek brightness of 450 nits along with Widevine L1 certification.

     

    The display seems good but the screen has a backlit bleeding issue which is noticeable at first glance around the notch and edges of the display. Despite the issue the fluidity offered is undoubtedly good. Even tough the phone is powered by mid-tier chip, there was no drop in the refresh rate at random. We can say that there are places for improvement, the overall performance of the display is good.

     

    OS: Android 10, MIUI 12.

     

    The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G runs on MIUI 12. The launcher is based on Android 10. It has a clean interface, a powerful always on-screen, advanced dark mode, smart notification sound and improved system apps.

     

    The phone gives you the facility to unlock the screen via fingerprint scanner that is fast and accurate. The accuracy is excellent for daily unlocking. It also supports dark mode and is also able to switch all the colours from white to black. 

    The MIUI 12 supports nature alarms and notifications that sound different. 

     

    With MIUI there is no app drawer and all apps are just sitting on the home screen and you can add them to folders. Some versions of MIUI include an option to app drawer. 

     

    The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G has a default home screen and on the screen, there is a weather widget on the upper right corner across the large clock widget.  

     

    With less clutter MIUI 12 has refined looks and you can easily spot efforts of Xiaomi towards minimalistic design in a new setting app. MIUI also offers a security app that can scan the phone for malware, manage your blacklist, manage or restrict user’s data usage, configure battery behaviour and free up some RAM. It can also manage the permissions of already installed apps and allow users to define the battery behaviour of selected apps and apply restrictions to the chosen app.

     

    MIUI also offers a proprietary Gallery, Music and Video player, FM radio app is also available. As for pre-installed MIUI apps, the apps which are not essential can be removed.

     

     

    Chipset: Qualcomm SM7225 Snapdragon 750G 5G(8nm): Octa-core CPU (2x2.2 GHz Kryo 570 & 6x1.8 GHz Kryo 570); Adreno 619 GPU. 

     

    The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G chip. The phone features Qualcomm’s 5G modem that adds full-fledged 5G connectivity. The Snapdragon 750G is fabricated with an 8nm manufacturing process.

     

    The Snapdragon 750G comes with an Octa-core processor with a configuration- 2x2.2 GHz Kryo 570 & 6x1.8 GHz Kryo 570. The Adreno 619 is part of Snapdragon 750G. The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G is available with 6GB and 8GB RAM capacity. The storage available is 128GB which is expandable up to 512GB with microSD card slot. 

     

    The phone offers the blazing fast processor that is the good for games. With the 120Hz refresh rate and Adreno 619 the gaming experience is commendable. The API is also better optimized overall. Overall, the Mi 10i 5G is one of the fastest Android smartphones and the performance of the phone is flawless.

     

     

    Camera: Wide (Main): 108MP sensor, 0.7µm pixel size, 26mm equivalent focal length, f/1.8 aperture, PDAF. Ultrawide angle: 8MP, FOV: 120o, f/2.2, 1.12µm pixel size. Macro: 2MP, f/2.4. Depth module: 2MP, f/2.4.

     

    The Xiaomi has a Samsung HM2 108MP module with f/1.8 aperture and has a focal length of 26mm. The smartphone consists of an ultrawide angle camera of 8MP with a FOV of 120o and f/2.2 aperture lens. The macro lens has 2MP with f/2.4 aperture lens. The 2MP depth sensor comes with f/2.4 aperture. The features provided are Dual-LED, dual-tone flash, HDR and panorama.

     

     

    The Mi 10i click true-to-life photos which are very detailed. The exposure of the images was good and there are no signs of highlight clipping. Under artificial lighting the contrast often mucks up. The main camera of 108MP provides amazing shots with plenty of details. The only thing to notice is that the colour temperature of the image does sway a bit to the warmer side. One of the notable things is that Mi 10i does not take corrective measures to reduce noise in the high-res mode. The outcome of which is graininess in the darker part of the images. This issue can be removed via software update.

     

     

    Video Recording: 4k [email protected], FullHD [email protected]/60/120fps, [email protected], gyro, EIS. 

     

    Xiaomi Mi 10 5G can shoot up to [email protected] through the main camera. The camera is also able to shoot with [email protected], [email protected]/60/120fps and [email protected]/60fps. The video recording has support from gyro and EIS.

     

    The video stabilization works best for main and ultrawide cameras. 4K videos from main cameras have excellent contrast, spot-on colours, and good dynamic range. Also, the resolved details are good. 

     

     

    Selfie: (wide) 16MP, f/2.5. 1080p video @ 30fps and 720p video @ 120fps. 

     

    The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G has 16MP with f/2.5 aperture. The main feature of the selfie camera is the Panorama. The camera has a full array of beauty filters. The beauty mode is by default. During daytime selfies are great. It also has an excellent portrait mode and it works well. The phone is also capable of selfie videos with 1080p. The Mi 10i is equipped with level 3 support for the cam2api. Down the line it should support all the features of a GCam port.

     

     

    Memory: 6/8GB RAM, 128GB built-in UFS 2.2 storage.

     

    The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G offers 6GB and 8GB of RAM capacity with 128GB internal storage.

     

     

    Connectivity: 5G, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, Wi-Fi, Dual-band GPS, USB Type-C 2.0, infrared port.

     

    The Xiaomi Mi 10 5G offers 5G connectivity that gives you an amazing experience. It has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, dual-band GPS A-GLONASS BDS Galileo, NFC and infrared port.

     

     

    Battery: 4,820mAh, 33W fast charging support.

     

    The Xiaomi Mi 10 5G packs a 4820mAh battery inside. The smartphone supports 33W fast charging. The time taken to refuel from zero to 100% in just 58min. The battery can easily survive a day a day without breaking a sweat.

     

     

    Speakers: 

    The Xiaomi Mi 10 5G has an amazing stereo speaker setup. The smartphone has dual stereo speakers. The sound is perfectly loud, clear and there is no distortion.

     

    Audio Quality:

    The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G supports Hi-fi audio that offers high quality audio experience with and without earphones. The audio quality is clear and there is no distortion. It is loud enough that you would love to hear at high volume even for a long time. 

     

    DURABILITY:

    The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G is constructed from Gorilla Glass 5 protection that is able to withstand minor bumps and drops. The phone doesn’t have an official IP53 certification which means the phone is protected against water.

     

    DISAPPOINTMENT:

    1. Not the best LCD display
    2. Backlight bleeding
    3. Boots on Android 10

    The Xiaomi Mi 10 5G doesn’t have the best screen. It has an IPS LCD display whereas its siblings Mi 10 and Mi10 Pro have super AMOLED display which is a disappointment.

     

    The screen has an issue of backlight bleeding which is easily visible at the punch hole on the screen and the edges of the screen.

     

    The OS it is based on is MIUI 12 which is still boots Android 10 making it lag behind during this time of cut-throat competition.
